Orchard Oriole, male, just this morning. It was perched very near the
Baltimore Oriole nest (with young), and the female Baltimore Oriole was also very
close, so I watched to see if she also had a cicada, but no, she was just
preening. This was in an old wild Black Cherry tree, along the hedgerow. The Orchard
Oriole looked like it pulled the head off the body, then flew off with it,
leaving the remains on the branch.
I also have a second hand report of huge numbers of "carp" eating them along
the edge of Rocky Gorge Reservoir.
