William:

I entered the coordinants into topozone and got the following map:

http://www.topozone.com/map.asp?lat=39.33797&lon=78.41398&datum=NAD83&u=5

Note that the ford/old bridge across the cacapon river is out and that you
have to come in from the north along what I think is route 45 near the
disappeared town of Bloomery...the road was clearly marked and while dirt
was well maintained (as these things go) and I drove a sedan down it. The
spot to stop is right where the one and only mud hole was on the road near
where the tiny stream goes under a small culvert and only about 1/2 mile
before the river. Be aware that there is another somewhat similar
crossing before the swainson's one, but without a mud hole. After driving
through the mud hole you will rise up to a densely scrubby field on the
left.

As a bonus, where sandy bottom road first enters the woods a worm-eating
warbler was singing. Sandy hollow is an interesting place that follows
Sand Mountain which contains odd deposits of bright white sand and I
noticed a number of interesting plants (goats rue in particular) along the
road and the small powerline cuts. I was collecting bees and it was one
of the best spots I have found.

Bluebird, what do you feed on?
It is true you gobble up worms, you swallow bugs,
And your bill picks up corn, seed, berries.
This is only part of the answer.
Your feathers have captured a piece of smooth sky.
Your wings are burnished with lake-morning blue.
It is not a worm blue nor a bug blue nor the blue
Of corn or berry you shine with.
Bluebird, we come to you for facts, for valuable
Information, for secret reports.
Bluebird, tell us, what do you feed on?

Sam

live fairly close to Hampshire county. I could possibly do a chase,
though
this is very busy week. Can you give detailed directions, time of day, and
any
other info that might be useful.
Thanks in advance!
