For the past couple of weeks while doing Atlas block work in Somerset Co.
I've heard at least 1-2 cuckoos per day. Today I heard at least 4. There
are NO cicadas here on the lower Eastern Shore. I don't recall how
apparent cuckoos were last year, but Somerset Co recorded them in 15 of 26
quarter blocks that were surveyed last year.

The "Safe Date" for the Yellow-billed Cuckoo is June 15. Note that the
"Safe Date" is the date up until which the bird can safely sing before it
needs to start its skulking behavior and disappear from Atlas birding.
