Hi Gail and everyone. Believe it or not as perfect as the weather was,
the wind kept changing direction and was often coming out of the East.
Not the preferred direction. Anyway, when I arrived home around 3:45,
I pulled up a chair and with in about 15 or 20 minutes I had a adult male
Mississippi Kite circle to the South east of us. I am told that the Swallow-tailed Kite
was seen this morning briefly. Around 5 pm we were treated to an
sub-adult Mississippi Kite swooping and diving acrobatically so low
that at one point the Kite was below eye level.
It came in and circled what seemed like 25 or 30 feet above us.
I could see the red eye with my binoculars with no problem.
I see these Kites almost every day and am never tired of seeing them.
It is always so nice enjoying these birds with a great group of birders. Thanks for coming!
Happy Birding.
