Bob,

The vireo was singing, and we spent some time searching for it because
it sounded much slower than a Red-eyed and we thought it might be a
Blue-headed. Unfortunately we did not get any good clear looks at the
bird, but we did see wing-bars and a solid gray head. We both thought we
saw an eye-ring, but neither of us was 100% certain of that.

We had a Sibley's East with us, and as soon as we lost sight of the bird
we checked the pictures of vireos. When we got home we both listened to
the songs. Based on the song and the gray head (which didn't have the
markings that a Red-eyed does), we believe it was a Blue-headed.

I thought it would be better to report it and see if others could
confirm it, than to not say anything and have a good bird go unreported.
I probably should have put a question mark after it, but to be honest, I
was excited about getting two life birds on that trip (the Veery and the
Yellow-billed Cuckoo) and not thinking about the Blue-headed Vireo when
I pasted the list into the e-mail.

I hope others can find it and confirm it. If not, I apologize for the
mistake.

Sherry
