MD Osprey:
The following report was published in Thursday's (6/24/2004) Washington
Post in the Anne Arundel County, MD "postings" section:
LINTHICUM, South Hammonds Ferry Rd., 700 block, June 10. An Animal Control
office investigating a bird report was met by residents of a home and their
neighbors and led to what they said was a baby bald eagle on a fence in the
back yard. The small bird, which had a white head and brown body and bands
around its talons, turned out to be a homing pigeon from Shirley, NY.
The office took the pigeon to the Animal Control facility for evaluation.
The bird was determined to be healthy and released.
... besides the obvious humor, it was probably difficult to stand on that
fence with those bands around the talons ...
