Yesterday while at the National Arboretum I heard a YB Cuckoo calling from
atop a dead tree. I noticed it had a worm in its bill. It flew purposely
down to a large crape myrtle in the Youth Garden and disappeared. I walked
under the tree and looked up. There on a loose stick nest lined with what
looked like oak catkins, sat the cuckoo. She is either incubating or
brooding newly-hatched young. Don't know who has this atlas block but in
case they need a confirmation, I thought I'd post this here. My first
cuckoo nest ever.
