The following herons were seen at New Windsor in Carroll County today (7-3-04):
Great Blue Heron 5
Great Egret 7
Green Heron 3
Black-crowned Night-Heron 1 immature
This is a definite sign of post-breeding dispersal. The water level here has dropped significantly and there is good shorebird habitat. The Shovelers that summered here have disappeared and the only shorebirds today were 14 Killdeer.
