Blue Mash Nature Trail, Montgomery County, 2 July 04, 0700-0900
A birdy morning along the BMNT with 43 species noted. Yellow-breasted Chat
were especially audible & visible with 4 birds readily observed. A juvenile
Sharp-shinned Hawk, perched on the fence surrounding the landfill, munched
on an avian breakfast while several Black Vulture soared overhead. A female
Wood Duck continues on the pond with 6 nearly full-grown ducklings. The
pond also yielded two new birds, Great Egret and Belted Kingfisher, which
brings my BMNT list (since 8 Feb) to 107 species.
