I would suggest any birding trip when the object of the search is at the top
of a mountain -- or the end of a long trail or a long slog. Anyone who's
birded for any length of time has done this -- walking out to the
Chincoteague Wash Flats, for example, and back...arggh. Last month in Spain
we had a "double time" hike in the Pyrenees to get to a Wallcreeper site
before it got too hot, no stopping on the way. Talk about a cardiovascular
workout! (We saw them). There are plenty of similar opportunities in
Maryland albeit no Wallcreepers at the end <gr>
