Hi all this morning Sun July 11 I went to Kent Narrows to check on
the progress of the Common Terns nesting on the cement Jetty In the
channel in the Narrows. When I arrived at about 8:30 AM there was
only 1 Bird presant female sitting on the nest . The male arrived
carrying a small fish which the female took stood up revealing at least
2 newly hatched chicks which she turned back faceing me blocking veiw of
the young birds and looked like she fed the little ones the fish . She
sat back down facing my direction brooding and protecting the young .
Then coming from behind her was a young tern circleing the tuft of
grass to the front of the female extended its little wings and buried its
self in the wing of the female bird. male flew off several times
returning with small fish . chased off gulls coming too near. Soo there
at least Two young and maybe a third. Happy Birding
