Following the theme of combining outdoor pleasures together I went kayaking while birding this weekend. It was a wonderful experience. I only wish I had an experienced birder along to help with the many birds I couldn't identify. However the highlight of our trip was the many close passes of a pair of adult Bald Eagles. We put in our kayaks at Drawbridge Rd on the Transquaking River in Dorchester Co. We went upriver first and came to a lake. We carried the kayaks over the dam and ventured onto the lake and that is where we had the most time with the eagles. During our trip down river, we saw many herons. For those that enjoy fishing and birding...the fish were jumping the entire day. So for those kayakers inclined to lead a bird/kayaking trip...name the time and place.
