Bob,

I agree that it is best to reflect the message content in the subject
title, but even when that is not done, a researcher can still easily
find what they are looking for by searching the archives.

As a test, I just went to the MDOsprey archives and entered
"Bonaparte's Gull" in the search box. For dates, I chose 20 July 2004
to 23 July 2004. Voila! I came up with George Jett's message titled
"List piracy." Within it, of course, was his mention of the Bonaparte's
he found at Morgantown. The beauty of these search engines is that they
look to the entire message for key words, so you can still find what
you are looking for even if the author's subject title was a little
"off the subject."

Hurray for archives, no matter which pathway you use to get to them!
And, it is so good to see "Recent Postings from MDOsprey Birding List"
back on Birdingonthe.Net, albeit with a few days' posts missing. Thank
you, Norm. Those posts can still be found in the archives.
