This is not meant to begin a discussion about cats, but I am hoping someone in this group can help.

I have a cat that needs a home. Its not my cat. It was dumped near my house early this year. It is probably young as it was small when it first appeared. It was very shy and scared for months, although I could tell it really wanted some love as it would often meow at us from the shelter of cars or brush. This was obviously someone's pet before it was dumped.

Finally hunger won out over fear. I took some food out, hoping to lure the cat close enough that I could catch it and take it to the pound. Within a week it was tame and although still hungry, prefers to be petted before it eats.

This is a very sweet and gentle cat. It appears healthy and is clean despite living outdoors. Being outdoors I am certain it needs vet care, but probably nothing more than vaccines and worming. I don't know if it is male or female. I haven't been able to find any sign that it is male and it has not had kittens that I am aware of. I suspect it may be neutered as it does not seem to attract the attention of or fight with other feral cats.

It is a gray and white shorthair and will likely remain small as it has not grown much in over six months.

This cat needs a home. I am reluctant to take it to the shelter as I fear it will not be adopted in time. I do not want it to go to a cat colony or an outdoor home.

I've taken in my limit of homeless cats so I can't bring it into my family.

Please contact me if you are interested. This is a good cat.

As far as Maryland birds, well, I haven't been able to fill my bird feeders since this cat arrived and would like to be able to do so again.
