Good news! Rob saw the Ibis and so did I. I arrived just before a thunderstorm hit Hains Point around 7:00 p.m. and the bird spooked from its previously described location. Rob and I watched it fly over the golf course towards the northern end of the course. We were not able to locate it before I departed to beat the storm home by bike.

But Rob, I did see a faint rainbow over the park as I headed back towards the Potomac. It appears there may not be a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, but if you are lucky, you'll find a Glossy Ibis.

I was down at Hains Point very early this morning to look for the ibis.
Around 6:30, it flew onto the golf course along Ohio Drive between Buckeye
Drive and the gate (which was closed even though it's supposed to open at 6
am). It ended up very close to the fence between Ohio Drive and the
course. So if you wake up before the golfers to look for the bird, be sure
to check the area before you get to the gate as well.
