I have been in touch with the public relations person
at Lily Pons (a birder and member of Fred. MOS).  She
assures me that the article not only misquoted Chuck
Finley  but mis-stated various facts about Lily Pons
itself.
In fact, Chuck said "If a birder in the circle hears a
bird only, another person has to confirm the heard
bird". How in the world that got to what was in the
paper amazes me but I do understand that the reporter
took notes on little scraps of paper!
Lily Pons and Chuck are both very unhappy with this
article and want birders to know that.
I don't know how many of you know that they now have a
bird list, birding trail, feeders fully stocked, a
kiosk with pictures of common birds found there and,
last but not least, a nice selection of feeders, books
and feed.  Stop in and no, I have no financial
interest in the place. They are just so good to the
birding community.
