Following up reports by Tom Marko and Rick Sussman I visited the Blue Mash Nature Trail in Montgomery County for the first time this morning.
Migrants seen were one each of Bank Swallow and these warblers: Chestnut-sided, Magnolia, Black-&-white, Redstart, and Canada. If I was atlasing there I had confirms for Green Heron FL, Cooper's Hawk FL, Yellow-billed Cuckoo FY, Red-eyed Vireo FY, Blue Jay FL, Carolina Chickadee FY, Mockingbird FL, Yellowthroat FL, Field Sparrow FL, Cardinal FL, Indigo Bunting FL, and Goldfinch FL. Birds heard singing were Mourning Dove, Yellow-throated Vireo, Red-eyed Vireo, Field Sparrow, and Blue Grosbeak. The only other species of note was a Pileated Woodpecker which I never see enough of. Also 19 species of butterflies. Well worth a visit for anyone in the Laytonsville area.
