On the way back from a job this evening I saw at least a 100 Nighthawks
working around the intersection of Rt. 108 and Zion Road in Montgomery
County. This has been the largest flock I have seen in a long time.

Just to catch up on other sightings of note, here is the following:

8/14 Assateague w/Dave Powell
Wilson's Storm-Petrels 100+
Sandwich Tern 3
Black Tern 1 (not viewed by Dave)
Lesser Black-backed Gulls 2, Ocean City Inlet (also not viewed with Dave) 1
adult, 1 first year

8/15 Hurlock
Gull-billed Tern 4, three adults and one juvi., thanks to Dave Powell, it
beat the hell out of netting skippers in the marshes on Elliott Island. At
Elliott's there were two young Common Moorhen and 1 fledged Virginia Rail
almost crushed under Jim Brighton's foot. It flew 30 yards and landed five
feet in front of me.

8/19 Brighton Dam
1 Yellow-bellied Flycatcher (Mongomery County)
1 Muslem couple engaged in sexual activities down by the river (also in
Mongomery County)

8/21
Seneca Landing: 2 Black-crowned Knight-Heron, 1 Canada Warbler, 1
Yellow-throated Warbler
Sycamore Landing/Turf Farm: 6 Pectoral Sandpiper, 2 Least Sandpiper, 1 Semi
Plover
Hurlock: Red-necked Phalarope 1, thanks to Jim Brighton for the phone call,
at least four others were able to see the bird
Easton Landfill: juv. Black-necked Stilt 1, almost left with out finding
this one, I noticed it in the grass as I was about to fold up the tripod,
made a few calls, and others managed to see the bird.
