No Buff-breasted SP in amongst the Killdeer at the Hughes Rd. polo grounds
around 1:30 pm. Tried to check a nearby field off Sugarland Rd. that was
being plowed. I could hear more Killdeer but could not see them very well
due to heat shimmer.
I did however have success at the Patton turf farm. The Buff-breasted was
in the same area described by Clive Harris this morning. The bird was
fairly close to the road thanks to a sprinkler that was creating puddles.
There was also a single Horned Lark on the field.
A bare dirt area of the Sugarland Sod farm (off Rt. 107) also had a flock
of about 15 Horned Larks.
Thanks Clive and Mike for your posts, the Buff-breasted is a state bird for
me and the Horned Lark is a county bird.
