Harry, I have one addition to your excellent boater's checklist:
sunglasses with a croakies-type of floating loop to keep them
from falling overboard or, should you drop them, to keep
them afloat. You may not be able to wear them
while looking through binoculars, but while piloting the boat
you want them on. Boaters who do not wear shades have
a much higher incidence of developing cataracts, which are
definitely not good for birding.

Wearing the wraparound style of sunglasses and a hat
with a brim is the best way to prevent UV A&B from
messing up your eyes.
