Hello All,
I birded on my farm this morning, hoping that the cold front had
brought in something new. The past 3 weeks have been perfectly dismal for
birds here with migrants few and far between and diminished activity for
resident birds. The last cold front brought zero migrants, though I did
have a few last Monday. This morning at least seemed like there had been
some movement as there was both increased numbers of birds and species and
more widespread activity. However, nothing new for the year nor anything
extraordinary to report.
The migrants included 4 Kingbirds, 5 Bluebirds, 2 Great Crested Flys
and a YB Cuckoo (all of which had been absent recently); at least 40
Bobolink; warblers including Redstart (2 Yellow), Yellowthroat (2F), Pine (2
heard), Chestnut-Sided (1 imm), Black & White (1 F) and a Black-throated
Green (1 imm). Also 7 RE Vireo, a Gnatcatcher, a Kingfisher flyby and a
group of at least 12 Blue Grosbeak together (16 total). In all 44 species
and a beautiful morning to be outside.

Good Birding,
Glen Lovelace III
