I visited the Great Oak Pond today (9-25-04) and the Marbled Godwits were not present. I was there approximately 1015-1100. There were 400 Canada Geese, 2 Green-winged Teal, and one Ring-necked Duck, but the only shorebirds were 4 Killdeer, 6 Lesser Yellowlegs, and 8 Least Sandpipers.
Other stops on the shore:
Chesapeake Farms - 4 Great Blue Herons, 60 Canada Geese, 650 Mallards, 5 Pintail, 1 Sapsucker.
Langford - a recently tilled farm field had 2 Cattle Egrets, 600 Laughing Gulls, 30 Ring-billed Gulls.
Chestertown sewage ponds - 2,500 Canada Geese including a group of 15-20 small birds but at that distance with heat shimmer I was not willing to say that any were Cackling Geese. Also 1 adult Blue Goose, over 100 Shovelers, 31 Caspian Terns.
Back Roads near Oakland in Caroline County - 1 Sapsucker, 2 Red-eyed Vireos, 1 Parula, 1 Magnolia Warbler, 1 late Yellow-throated Warbler.
