Hi all,
 The ANS Youth "Ospreys" took an extended trip to Point Lookout, St. Mary's
County yesterday. Though we had only 2 kids and 3 adults (something's gotta
change), we did have some nice finds. The trip was touted as a "hawk-watch"
and we only had 3 species of raptors and only perhaps 4-5  individuals total;
Bald Eagles, Osprey and Cooper's Hawks. Marty Cribb gave us a nice overview of
the park and trails before he had to leave us mid-morning. We had some nice
looks at flyover RED-HEADED WOODPECKERS, both an immature and an adult, as
well as many Tree Swallows and a single Barn Swallow, as well as a late EASTERN
KINGBIRD. Cathy Stragar found an early COMMON LOON on the Potomac, and we
later found another. We also had very nice looks at a couple groups of
BROWN-HEADED NUTHATCHES feeding in the pines along the road, as well as a number of
PALM WARBLERS, and a pair of PINE WARBLERS.

On our way home we stopped at Sandgates to look for the Kelp Gull (no) but
had good looks at both Royal Terns and Forsters Terns, and other gulls, and a
Bald Eagle came in and grabbed a fish off the river while we watched.

 Back at ANS Headquarters mid-afternoon we found an early Yellow-bellied
Sapsucker (male), Black& white Warbler, Magnolia Warbler, and Scarlet Tanager.

 Thanks Marty for taking the time to show uss around!
