Early this am before work I walked the 4-H to Hazelwood Trail off Queen
Anne Rd in Bowie. Birding aside, this is a lovely route over varied
habitat, evoking memories of a simpler, more rural, past. Further
details will be the subject of an item in our forthcoming chapter
newsletter.

This am's walk yielded a late Ovenbird, 15 Flickers on the move, at
least 20 Swamp Sparrows in a tiny patch of phragmites, a Savannah
Sparrow, (yellow) Palm Warbler, R-c Kinglets, and a Y-b Sapsucker imm.
Several Thrashers, lingering imm Indigos and imm Field Sparrows rounded
out the local avifauna.

In the yard today, a Sapsucker and Red-b Nuthatch heralded the winter
season.
