The Balt. Bird Club field trip to Lake Roland today had a nice mix of raptors, shorebirds, and passerines.
The highlight was a young male Merlin, perched on a snag, then on a sandbar (and even in an inch of water!). We all got great scope views. Other raptors were a Red-tailed and a probable Cooper's (distant perched bird).

Shorebirds were 3+ Killdeer, 5 Lesser Yellowlegs, 2 Western and 1 Least.

Also seen or heard were Winter Wren, Swamp Sparrow, Black-throated Blue (1 male, 1 female), Black-throated Green, Rose-Breasted Grosbeak, and Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker.
