Md Osprey Birders
Hello! While taking a hike around Shady Grove Metro Ponds, and then to Lake Needwood, I spotted these species:
3 Great Blue Herons
2 Scaup Ducks (male & female), 1Killdeer (heard), 1Redtail Hawk(heard),
1 Osprey, several Myrtle warblers & Northern Juncos, 1 Wood Thrush, 1 Winter Wren(!)
2 Carolina Wrens, Mallards, Canada Geese (40), 1 Coot, Black Vulture, Turkey Vultures
Mocking bird & Robins.

The Osprey I observed was doing something I haven't seen before with an Osprey. It was
soaring over the lake, normal fashion, then would glide and land into the shallows and stay there, wings outspread. I wondered if it was "cooling" itself? The Osprey did this several times, moving into deeping water, and floating like a duck. I was worried it would drown. Is this a new fishing technique?
