Hi all --

Barry and I took some friends from Houston birding today and decided to
visit Terrapin Nature Park, Queen Anne's Co. It was a beautiful autumn day
with colors and sun to match. There was a very large influx of Kinglets and
sparrows, and rather few other migrants, although a constant passage
overhead of Tree Swallows and Jays. We did have some nice birds and some
delicious persimmons!

Seen: Ruby-crowned Kinglet (seen and heard, probably over 100),
Golden-crowned Kinglet (~20), Red-breasted Nuthatch (3), RED-EYED VIREO (1,
late!), Blue-headed Vireo (1), LINCOLN'S SPARROW (1), Field Sparrow (12),
White-throated Sparrow (~150), Swamp Sparrow (6), Chipping Sparrow (4),
Yellowthroat (2), Yellow-rumped (Myrtle) Warbler (~150 -- they're back!),
Orange-crowned Warbler (1 probable-- seen only briefly in flight), Phoebe
(8), Brown Thrasher (4), Royal Tern (1), Tree Swallow (25), Yellow-bellied
Sapsucker (1), Winter Wren (1), House Wren (2). No Bluebirds or Palm
Warblers -- odd...and no raptors either.
