Today Bill Ellis and I started at Turkey Point in Elk Neck SP. On the walk to the hawkwatch we encountered 1 Phoebe, 4 Ruby-crowned Kinglets, 2 Black-throated Blue Warblers, 35 White-throated Sparrows and 2 Juncos.
We joined Richard Donham at the hawkwatch. In three hours before the weather started to shut things down we saw about 35 Sharp-shinned Hawks, 1 Cooper's Hawk, 6 Bald Eagles that appeared to be migrating, 2 Merlins, and 4 Kestrels. Also 2 Chimney Swifts and 2 Tree Swallows. Lots of Blue Jays and Goldfinches were also around.
A stop at North East Community Park produced about 6 Laughing Gulls among the common species.
At Perryville Community Park there were fair numbers of waterfowl in Mill Creek where they were out of the wind. Seen here were:
Pied-billed Grebe 24
Double-crested Cormorant 4
Great Blue Heron 1
Gadwall 5
Baldpate 1
Black Duck 3
Mallard 40
Shoveler 9
Coot 34
