Lots of passerine activity this morning but the only sightings of note
at Oxen Hill Park were 1 BLUE-HEADED VIREO and a group of 7 CHIMNEY
SWIFTS. It seems early to have missed both Catbird and Thrasher.

Further south at Piscataway Park, the large field proved pipitless; it
seems they stopped at Kenilworth. The consolation prize was 7 Savannah
Sparrows and a Meadowlark. This area can be very good for waterfowl in
winter but for some reason it tends to be very slow this time of year.
Birds here included 1 Common Loon at the end of Wharf Road and 5
Pied-billed Grebes, 20 Gadwall, 4 Wigeon, 23 Ruddy Ducks and a Coot off
the boardwalk. Remnants of summer and early fall included 7 Great
Egrets, 30 Forster's Terns, 3 Greater Yellowlegs and a SPOTTED
SANDPIPER.
