There were lots of birds about during my lunchtime walk, though
species diversity was low.
At Constitution Gardens, a flock of sparrows included Dark-eyed
Juncos, Song Sparrows and White-throated Sparrows. A feeding
flock in the trees included both Ruby-crowned and Golden-crowned
Kinglets, Ruby-crowned the vast majority, as well as a Hermit Thrush.
The Great Egret that has been a regular at the Constitution Gardens
pool is still here.
At the DC Veteran's Memorial, another feeding group, though of
vastly different composition: Several Tufted Titmice, Carolina
Chickadees, a couple of Downy Woodpeckers,a White-breasted
Nuthatch, Northern Cardinals and a Hermit Thrush.
Nothing to capitalize about, I'm afraid.
