It's been a long time since I've posted to this list, so let me
reintroduce myself. My name is Leslie and I am in Keedysville, MD which
is in Washington County about ten minutes away from Shepherdstown, WV.
I live in a housing development with about 1/3 acre with lots of
preexisting trees, mostly evergreens. I have a hatch feeder with a
songbird mix, a window feeder with songbird mix and thistle, a finch
feeder and a woodpecker bar. I had a hummingbird feeder until they
left. I also put peanut butter in a groove of one of my trees. That's
been a bit hit with the Chickadees, the Downys and the White-breasted
Nuthatches. (And the squirrels, unfortunately.) I love to take
pictures of the birds that visit me and I'm always happy to share them.

I've been enjoying the change of season and the new visitors it's
bringing. The Juncos are back. I saw a single one Oct. 10 - I guess an
early arrival. I didn't see any after that until Oct. 22 when they
arrived en masse. I'm still waiting for White-throated Sparrows
(pouting), but I have had at least 2 White-crowned Sparrows. If anyone
remembers me from before, they may remember my quest for the elusive
Pine Siskin. I had a couple people come over last winter to try to
catch a glimpse of him. Well, I've got about a dozen now! I put up my
finch feeder late last winter specifically to attract them. I didn't
see them then, but they're here now! :)

Since I posted last, I've gotten a lot better at identifying birds. I
even have a few warblers on my life list. (They've been hard!) I'm
usually able to identify things pretty well. I'm not an expert, but I'm
not a beginner anymore (in my honest opinion:) ). But I've got one
that's got me stumped. If anyone's willing to help, please email me
offlist - I've got some pictures of it.
