Took advantage of the beautiful and oddly warm weather and went to Hughes Hollow this afternoon. Highlights were:

Northern Harrier (beautiful adult male)
Short-eared Owl (soaring fairly high--I put my binocs on it expecting a hawk and got quite a surprise when I saw the silhouette!)
Rusty Blackbirds (conservatively estimated around 8; there may have been more mixed in with all the red-wings)

Zero waterfowl, unless you count 3 mallard decoys in the west impoundment (are these allowed to be there on Sunday?). The fields beyond were fairly disappointing--I'm always surprised how few sparrows are there in fall/winter. Still, a great day to be out there.
