Hairy Woodpeckers, Glen Echo

Had two male HAIRY WOODPECKERS this am in the back yard, going after suet and bugs in the tree limbs.  Don't see too many of those.   They were joined by male & female DOWNY WOODPECKERS and a male RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER.  A PILEATED WOODPECKER (female) visited the day before yesterday...now for a sapsucker!

Yesterday in the am, some kind of hawk (size suggested COOPER'S HAWK) swoop in and scatter the crowd of seed-eaters.  Don't think it got anything, but it zoomed thru so fast I only got a glance.

Both mornings were gorgeous fall days!
