I have had Mourning Doves eating Niger seed from my Goldfinch feeders for
years. They eat it off the ground, out of the tray at the bottom of the tube
feeder and also pick the seed from the slots in the tube.

Do Mourning Doves eat Nyjer seed?  I scattered some old Nyjer seed on the
mulch under hedges and shrubs in my back yard, since the Goldfinches don't
like stale seed.  For 3 days thereafter there were about 15 Mourning Doves
eating something in that area.
