Gee, I was pleased, nay, thrilled when I heard a screech own in my yard
leaving for work yesterday, but this would take one's breath away.
Couldn't happen to a nicer pair of birders.

Hi all --

Just came from mailing something and found a flock of scolding birds in
the
pines in our front yard. A brief look revealed a terrific little
SAW-WHET
OWL sitting there, wide-awake but ignoring the small birds.

It s now 2:45 -- if anyone wants to try to come over and see him, give
us a
call although we can't guarantee he'll stick around! 301-989-1828.

This is a new yard bird and (maybe) a Montgomery county bird for us!

Best,
Gail Mackiernan and Barry Cooper
