One of the dragonflies might have been a Yellow-legged Meadowhawk. The
animal is small, about 11/2 inches, and dull red. It is one of the late
fliers in our region. I photographed two recently at the house.

Maybe so. I saw a good number of them both at Blue Mash and later here at
home around the small pond. A pair were actually mating and tandem-flying. The
various meadowhawk species are hard for me to tell apart without really good
looks, and admittedly I need more practice. Thanks for the help!
