All I can say is get out there and knock on doors in '08 (and in MD in '06
for the governor's race), for the candidate you support. It does make a
difference. Thanks to all who volunteered for their candidate, being on the
side that didn't win the fog and grief is just starting to clear from my
head. Birders concerned about habitat/open space preservation in MD may
want to take a look at the MD Yellowthroat Conservation Corner.

This may be a good holiday season to consider making a donation to a
favorite charity in someone's name as a gift instead of getting someone more
"stuff" they don't need. That is one way some folks are trying to make
sense of the recent election, and even if your man won it's still a great
way to share @ the holidays.

Regarding the woodcock hitting a building in D.C., there are also a lot of
woodcocks that die in Baltimore from the same cause, in addition to
ovenbirds and common yellowthroats, to name a few. Woodcock mortality seems
to be much worse in spring, but deaths also occur in the fall. If anyone is
interested in assisting with monitoring buildings in Baltimore in the spring
(or now), let me know. If anyone knows anything about building light types
your assistance would also be useful, since certain buildings w/really
bright lights seem to be death traps.

Er, I think you meant "you as a nation".

We as a nation re-elected George W. Bush as our president. Nuff said.

And, why on earth are hunters there even allowed a crane hunting season
during Whooping migration in an obviously sensitive area for the endangered
species?!?

What can a concerted group of birders (all of us @ MDOSPREY) do to put
pressure on the Attorney General's office to prosecute to the fullest extent
of the law? Please provide me with any helpful additional information. I am
willing to "stick my neck out" to make a statement (excuse the pun!).
