My friend in college, David, once brought a great horned owl into class because it had a wing injury.  He had gone hunting in the morning and then came into class with this bird.  He was going to take it to be rehabilitated.  I later asked him how it had gotten injured.  He said, "Well, it was this big thing sittn' in a tree, and I hadn't seen any ducks all morning."  He then felt bad that he had shot it and brought it in to be rehabilitated.
