Hi Mary,
I am so happy to see this announcement as keeping a zippered lip has been a
challenge! Glad she stayed around and I hope that the visitations give you
minimal disruption.

Subject: [MDOSPREY] Calliope Hummingbird banded!
I am pleased to announce to MD Osprey that I banded a Calliope Hummingbird
at
a suburban yard near Bowie, Maryland on 11/13. The homeowners had first
noted
the bird on 11/11 and it continues as of tonight. It is with some
trepedation that I make this announcement to the Osprey (the bird could
leave
tomorrow!). The homeowners had previously allowed me to notify some birders
individually, and I have prevailed upon them to allow me to announce this
bird more
widely. However, in order to obtain directions they ask that you contact me
directly at this email address (live4birds AT aol.com).
For those who have seen the bird and somehow managed to keep from telling
all
the birders that they know, I would like to pass along my gratitude. Also,
my request that you allow me to give out the directions, again at the
homeowners wishes.
I am able to respond to emails until sometime on Wednesday this week. I
will
probably not be able to respond until Saturday after that (but I'll try).
If
you would like to try to see this bird, please send me an email with the day
and time frame you would like to visit. I will reply back with directions,
unless I am swamped with requests for the same day/time or the bird has
vanished. It is not possible to arrive before 9 AM. The bird is
intermittent in the
warm weather we've been having, and has spent up to 2 hrs mid-day without
appearing at the feeder.
Incidently, the bird is a Hatch Year Female.
Thanks for your understanding with this bird.
