Janet Millenson, current MOS President, writes that she will be
presenting testimony opposed to the sale of public lands in
Maryland.

Janet, I think it's great that you will be testifying and that other
outdoors organizations will be testifying.  I still think that a
well-organized letter-writing campaing will also be good at getting
the message across to our governor and our local politicians.  There
is time--the 2005 legislative season hasn't begun yet and if the
letter-writing campaign could be coordinated with that legislative
season, I believe the voices of those opposed to plans to sell
public lands would be better heard.

Perhaps the MOS Conservation Chair could set up some address lists,
some suggested letters, etc.  MOS has fourteen chapters to get the
word out in a coordinated fashion to the membership.  Perhaps MOS
can make a difference if it is done with some planning and
organization.

I do hope that MOS can take a leadership role in the fight to save
our public lands.
