The one and only winter I have ever seen Evening Grosbeaks was back in @  Have always hoped to see them again; they are so beautiful.  The birds were attracted to our feeders during a particularly brutal winter.  Wish I had exact dates; I was young at the time and not yet taking notes  They were seen then in Pasadena, Anne Arundel County.

I don't know about a decline, but they are not annual. I have not seen one
in MD for many years now.
