Bill, it looks like a pretty straightforward sapsucker to me, but I am far
from expert.
I can't get a good picture for you in the near future. My digital camera
and scope are both too low-end for digiscoping, and I don't have film in my
"real" camera. I will try to get a picture over the weekend. It was at the
suet feeder
on Sunday afternoon. (I'm not home much of the week while it's daylight
these days.)
You suspect my bird is a hybrid of some kind? Maybe a hairy
woodpecker-sapsucker cross?
