This won't be the first time someone saw a flying squirrel at (in) their
bird feeder and became even more hooked on birds and other aspects of
natural history, Many years ago a woman who was new to birds noticed
that her sunflower seed was disappearing at night. Someone suggested
that it might be a flying squirrel. so she waited and watch ; sure
enough this little brown bundle of fur with big eyes and tiny ears was
visiting her window feeder at night. For several years she fed the
flying squirrel..... sunflower seeds, peanuts, even pecans. People used
to visit her apartment to see the flying squirrel. And in the process
became one of the most beloved of birders in Northern Virginia.
