Our feeders have attracted a host of feathered friends this fall - red- and
white-breasted nuthatches, brown creeper, red-bellied and downy woodpeckers,
plus the usual chickadees, titmice and finches.
This morning, the inevitable happened - a sharp-shinned hawk was in the
area, perched on a tree in a neighbor's yard. He was pointed *away* from the
feeders, and I swear he must have been readying himself to intercept birds
flying in from nearby to our feeders. He didn't leave his perch even as I
circled around under him with binocs.
This is a new yard bird. Hooray!?
