Sad, those birds brought a lot of enjoyment -- and of course, despite the
Park Commissioner's statements, Redtails are protected under several federal
(and probably) state laws. Does the Migratory Bird Treaty act prevent nest
removal? It prevents *possession* of nests without permits although not very
well enforced, although perhaps in this high-profile case...
Assume the birds will rebuild somewhere, however, since damage to nests over
the winter must not be that rare an occurrence.
