Blue Mash Nature Trail, Montgomery County, 9 Dec 04, 0700-0830 

A quick trip around the BMNT during yesterday's red sky morning did not
produce a banquet of birds.  Deer were abundant but wary and there was much
evidence of the beavers working overtime culling trees along the so called
"green tunnel."  Birds of note included:

Waterfowl: Canada Goose (~200), Green-winged Teal (20), Ringed-neck Duck
(4), Hooded Merganser (5)
Sparrows:  6 species including American Tree Sparrow (1) and Fox Sparrow (5)
Other birds: Red-Tailed Hawk, Am. Kestrel, Pileated Woodpecker, Belted
Kingfisher
