Hi --

Barry and I did a quick check of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens this morning
without finding anything too exciting (2-3 Fox Sparrows, 6 Black Ducks, one
Pintail). As we were leaving we saw a number of squirrels on the ground near
some trees and a large Cooper's Hawk on the ground with them, no more than
10 feet away from the closest squirrel, which seemed oblivious to the hawk.
As we watched, the hawk ran towards and then flew at the squirrel, which
retreated into the tree but only a few feet up. As we left, the hawk was
still on the ground carefully observing the squirrel, which seemed to have a
death wish (or was *very* naive!).

Hains Point yielded three Merlins on the golf course, at least one looked
like an adult female, a Common Loon offshore and amongst the many mallard, 4
Lesser Scaup, two Ruddy Ducks and a Pintail. No other raptors today.
