Bill and others:
Sorry I did not post last night, but getting the house ready for the Port
Tobacco CBC tally rally, getting ready to go out of town for Yule, etc. I am
late.
A second year Bald Eagle flew over the gull flock yesterday at 3:40 PM on
Thursday and all the gulls left Benedict, circling into a large kettle, and
heading south to St. Mary's County. The Thayer's was in the flock and in my
camera as the eagle flew in. (Jim Stasz: If saw the flock fly into St.
Mary's Co, can I list the Thayer's Gull for St. Mary's?)
Today at the house an adult Red-headed Woodpecker put in a short appearance.
The lovely male Pine Warbler continues to feed on peanuts splits and
sunflowers hearts.
Late tonight I got a call from Eric Gofreed about a Mandarin Duck drake.
Since it is such a beautiful animal, I could not help myself and went to
Mattawoman Park in Indian Head, MD. Likely an escaped bird (sorry Hans)
since it comes up to eat bread tossed off the peer by the locals, but it is
a stunning animal in the setting sun. Thanks Eric.
