Hey all,

Jim Stasz and I did the Jug Bay CBC today. Our section was a mile or two, north and south of North Beach, Calvert County. Best birds of the day were a HOUSE WREN and SNOW GOOSE in Chesapeake Beach, and a GREATER WHITEFRONTED GOOSE and a RICHARDSON'S GOOSE about a mile north of Herrington on 261. The White-front was very photogenic flying in close to a small pond. Jim remarked that this was the domestic flocks of canadas that he never found anything in. I guess a few migrants slipped into their ranks for the day.

Also, 14 CBCs took place this weekend! There have been very few reports from these counts. I, and probably many others, are very interested in the results of these counts. If anyone knows of any good birds seen on these counts it would be awesome if you could post the sightings. Myself and a few others are doing big years this year and i still need a few birds to finish out the year. I am currently at 325 birds, most recent being the pelican at Jug Bay (Thanks Jeff Shenot). Birds on my "Wish List" for the next two weeks are:

Pacific Loon
Western/Clarks Grebe
Franklin's Gull
Black-legged Kittiwake
Snowy Owl
Ash-throated Flycatcher
Northern Shrike (Western MD counts??)
Orange-crowned Warbler (often found wintering in CBC areas)
Wilson's Warbler (occasionally found on CBCs, one just found in NJ)
Harris's Sparrow
Painted Bunting
YH Blackbird (also reports of large blackbird flocks would be appreciated)
Brewer's Blackbird
Red Crossbill
Evening Grosbeak
Ring-necked Pheasant (I'll put on the kevlar and brave Cherry Hill sometime soon....)
--or any other goods birds

Anyone who hears reports of or finds one of these birds, please give me a call or drop me an email. It would be greatly appreciated. Im sure many others would be interested in CBC reports or reports of these birds. Thanks!
