Folks

I went chasing the phantom Cave Swallows again on Tuesday. I found no swallows of any kind, but did locate two Common Eider and one second winter (I think) Little Gull at the OC. inlet. The Little Gull was feeding with a flock of about 150 Bonaparte's Gulls. I also found one American Oystercatcher loafing on the south jetting stones. 30+ Purple Sandpipers, a few Ruddy Turnstones, and many Herring Gulls were hanging around the north jetty. Lots of Gannets of all ages were feeding just off the coast. It is cool to watch them dive into the ocean to feed. The inlet also had about four Red-throated Loon, numerous Forster's Terns, and several flocks of Surf Scoters in the neighborhood.

At the Verzano Bridge birds of note were several (5) Common Loon, seven Red-breasted Mergansers, one Forster's Tern, and 23 Brant.

On my way home I saw a flock of 65 ducks in the pond at the Dorchester/Wicomico County line, just after crossing the Nanticoke River. The ducks were Ring-necked Ducks, but I also found one Great Egret on the shore. Getting late for this guy.
